Let’s take a breath together…
Inhale.
Exhale.
We’ll also journal and meditate in a bit!
When I first read this quote many moons ago by the Sufi scholar and poet, Jalaluddin Rūmī my heart skipped a beat. Words written long before I existed, penetrated my soul like they were created just for me. My world expanded in an instant. I felt seen. I felt hopeful.
I am never without a dream or desire, what about you? I don’t know if it’s thanks to being born into capitalism which convinces me that I will never have enough or, perhaps it’s simply a part of the human voyage on this earth; to connect to and receive what is pulling at our heart strings. Whatever the case, my dreams and desires keep my life very interesting. Like my voyage from living a busy life in New York City to settling down in the Caribbean country of Grenada; I had dreamt of living somewhere tropical where I could work and enjoy my life. What I didn’t know was that this dream was also seeking me.
Affirmations, songs and quotes have always helped keep my soul focused and my spirit hopeful while working on receiving what I am seeking. I don’t think I would have manifested this life without powerful affirmations to keep me going like this one:
And I would listen to this song (below) on repeat during my traumatic breakup five years ago. It was such a terrifying time where my safety was in jeopardy. I clung to comforting words that would calm me down. Little did I know, comfort and calm was seeking me. Everything was gonna be alright.
Oh, and get this: Rumi wrote in his native Persian language. According to Saloumeh Bozorgzadeh, a licensed clinical psychologist and president of the Sufi Psychology Association, another translation can be read as, ‘What you seek is with you.’
Woah.
So basically what you are seeking is not only seeking you but it is within you. It is by your side. It is closer than you think! You just have to believe that it is yours and trust the journey towards connecting to it.
Inhale. Exhale.
Please remember, dear one as the weekend and new moon ease their way in: your dreams and desires would not exist if they were not for you to manifest. Don’t give up because…
What you seek is with you.
Tell me, how does this resonate with you? And what tools do you use to align with what you are seeking?
Here are some of the tools I use to calm my mind and align with what I am seeking:
Meditate
Get on the yoga mat
Get to know the inner critic that may try to sabotage your connection to what you are seeking
Create affirmations to focus the mind
Envision what you are seeking like it is already yours
Focus on the feeling of receiving what you are seeking
Vision board!
Begin preparing (i.e. write a resignation letter, book that ticket, save that money, call that person, sign up for that thing, etc)
Surrender and trust in Divine timing
Just Breathe
You are closer than you can imagine to what you are seeking! Keep going!
